Vocational education and training (VET)
Two-year vocational education and training VET programme lead to a Federal VET Certificate. The three- or four-year VET programme leading to a Federal VET Diploma. Both qualifications are recognised by the federal government. Adults are better positioned on the labour market if they have completed a profession.
A profession gives you better conditions for employment. It increases your chances of being able to develop further on the labour market. Completing vocational training also increases your chances of keeping a job.
Possibilities for adults
You can also obtain a vocational qualification as an adult. There are four ways to do this:
- Regular basic vocational training or apprenticeship for short
- Shortened apprenticeship
- Direct admission to the final examination in accordance with Article 32 or catch-up training for short
- Validation in accordance with Article 31
Prerequisites
To obtain a vocational qualification, you need the following prerequisites:
- Professional experience
- Good knowledge of a national language
- Good basic skills
- Motivation and perseverance
