Personal equipment
Military personnel are provided with personal equipment. This ensures that you are equipped for service and signifies that you are part of the Swiss Armed Forces.
As a member of the armed forces, the Swiss Confederation provides you with equipment free of cost. You must report for duty every time with complete, clean and functional equipment, and bring your own underclothes. You must also bring the necessary items for sports and personal hygiene.
As a member of the armed forces, you are typically required to store your personal equipment securely at your residence. You must keep your equipment in good working order and replace any items that are no longer usable.
Members of the armed forces
Members of the armed forces obtain their equipment from the Army Depot and also return it there. Please bring your service record booklet with you.
Members of civil protection
Members of civil protection can obtain their equipment from the Schönau training center before starting their service. However, the equipment must be returned at the Army Depot. Please bring your service record booklet with you.
Members of the mobile medical treatment unit
Members of the mobile medical treatment unit receive equipment from partner organizations or the emergency organization department (e.g. uniforms). If you receive equipment from the emergency organization department, you can order, exchange and return your equipment at the Steinhausen army depot.
Sale of army material
Those interested can buy retired army equipment and decommissioned army vehicles. You will find a comprehensive range of items in the two official Army Liq Shops in Switzerland. For more information, please visit the website of the Army Liq Shop.
