Municipal Notary Offices
The canton of Zug has two types of notary offices: municipal and private. Both can draw up public deeds.The municipal notary offices can also notarize contracts related to rights in rem (land). They also certify signatures, copies and hand drawings. Municipal clerks, their deputies, and lawyers residing in the canton can work as notaries.

Swiss Register of Notaries Public
Starting from 1/1/2022, Zug’s notaries have been able to register in the Swiss Register of Notaries Public (UPReg) for creating electronic copies and certifications. The GBNI will allow the registration applications of the municipal notaries and the notaries of the Land Register and Geoinformation Office.

The Inspectorate for the Land Register and Notary Offices supervises the land register and the municipal notary offices. The services are provided by the Land Register and Geoinformation Office and the Municipal Notary Offices.

- Walter Lipp is the supervisor for the municipalities of Cham, Hünenberg, Menzingen, Oberägeri, Risch, Steinhausen, Unterägeri, and Zug.
- David Boner is the supervisor for the municipalities of Baar, Neuheim, and Walchwil.
